Poland Trip 2026
This January, 28 students from both S5 and S6 took part in the annual trip to Krakow, Poland. As an individual who was in attendance of the trip, I cannot tell you enough how amazing this trip was! Ill shout it from the rooftops, ring bells, scream till my voice goes! This trip was so incredible.
The trip began on Monday the 26th of January with the group flying from Edinburgh Airport to John Paul II Kraków Balice International Airport then taking the coach to the Hotel Wyspiański. That evening, the group made their way into the town to have dinner at the Hard Rock cafe. The group settled in for dinner, and it is certainly safe to say that it was a good evening out. After that, we were given free time to have fun as we decided (within reason, obviously. Mr Hayes gave strict limits to the town square) The next day, the group where up bright eyed and bushy tailed for breakfast in the hotel’s canteen. The day consisted of visiting the former Jewish quarter as well as a visit to the Galicia Jewish Museum, where we met with the relative of a holocaust survivor. After this, we were given free time at the local Shopping centre to explore. For our dinner, we had a three course meal at a Jewish Restaurant. We had the choice of thirteen set menus, containing various mains such as Fish, Salad, turkey, beef and chicken. While at this restaurant, live Jewish music was played for our entertainment. On the Wednesday, our group visited Auschwitz-Birkenau. This day, as you could imagine, was incredibly taxing emotionally. However, the experience was very interesting, with exhibits about the lives of Jews in the camp, as well as the Nazis who worked in the camp. The Thursday, the final full day of the trip, we visited the Oskar Schindler Museum, as well as the castle.
This trip, quite honestly, was the best school trip I have ever been on during my time at St. Kent’s. I spoke and joked around with people id never normally speak to during school and made memories that I won’t forget! However, one part that is rather iffy is the prince. The cost may vary from year to year, but especially this year, it was very expensive (£700 expensive) however, if you get the chance to go, i could not recommend it enough
